A Play by Jim Cartwright
Set during the course of one evening in a northern pub, TWO follows the story of a Landlord and Landlady, bound together by an anniversary that cannot be named. Into the pub come a collection of regulars, populating the space with humour, sadness and a language which is as poetic as it is witty. TWO evokes a spectrum of human pairings bound not only by the pub but through their battles with love and the conflicts of public facade and private emotion.
Cartwright’s plays, which also include ROAD and THE RISE AND FALL OF LITTLE VOICE, have won numerous awards and been translated into over 30 languages. He has also written for film and television and his first novel was published last year.
