CT6 Contemporary Art Group

A group of visual arts graduates living in and around the CT6 area who meet on a regular basis to discuss art in its various forms. We exhibit together approximately 4 times a year - often in the Bay Art Gallery, 47a William St,. Herne Bay. Our main criterion is to promote contemporary art within the area, establishing links with the community and local schools, encouraging them to use the Bay Art Gallery to promote their own work. The group is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Bay Art Gallery which is a not-for-profit organisation, specifically set up to enhance the cultural well-being of the town and its community.

Herne Bay Arts Group

Herne Bay Arts Group was formed in 1957 and its first President was Augustus John, one of the county's finest painters. The aims of the group are to encourage new and existing members in all branches of Art and to organise activities to that end. Regular events at the First Over 60's Club, William Street, Herne Bay, include evening meetings on the 1st Friday of each month, with demonstrations by professional artists in March, May, June, September and October (Visitors welcome from 7.30-9.30pm); a studio workshop every Tuesday; an AGM in April and Social Evening in April. There is a Spring indoor painting exhibition in April and an Annual Exhibition in August, both at the United Church Halls, High Street, Herne Bay. There are also Al fresco exhibitions on Herne Bay seafront from May to September (weather permitting) and outdoor painting days organised twice a year. Membership is limited to Herne Bay residents.
